Volunteer Opportunities
Please be aware that an updated CORI needs to be filed every year in order to volunteer at ANY school function. These can take a week or two to process, so be sure to submit your application soon if you haven't already. You can pick up a form at the office, or print one here to fill out and return to the South School administrative office (Ms. Daly) with a copy of your license.
FINGERPRINTING is required for out of school volunteering (field trips) in addition to CORI. Click here for instructions and how to get Fingerprinted. Once complete, please confirm with the South School administrative office (Ms. Daly).

Pumpkin Patch
October

60 Volunteers are needed to help organize the event and volunteer the day of the event. (Game Room, Prizes, Raffles/Silent Auctions, Cake Walk, Face Painting, etc.)

Teacher Appreciation Week
May

Volunteer chair coordinates teacher appreciation week with other parents & coordinates events for teachers and staff.

Volunteers help set up and distribute surprises throughout the week.

Fun Run

Our biggest school fundraiser of the year!

Fundraising chair works with Boosterthon to organize event.

Volunteers are needed to help the day of the event to help facilitate the event (in 2 waves) & week prior to give out prizes to students for fundraising goals they meet.

Sharking
Fall and Spring

Volunteer chair collects $29 fee from family and elected volunteers "Shark" the desired family's front yard with South School SHARK decorations! The kids LOVE getting SHARKED!

Spirit Wear

Buy clothing and accessories to show off your Shark school spirit!

Dining for Dollars

Volunteer works with local restaurants to establish dates when families can dine & a portion of the proceeds are donated to the school PTO. Volunteer also creates flyers to send home with students.

Textile Bin
Year Round

Donate clothing, shoes, accessories, linens & more!

Weekly pick-ups generate revenue for the school, provide a convenient place to donate & keep unwanted textiles out of landfills.

Nearly 100% of donated textiles are able to be reused, repurposed or recycled.

Book Fair

Volunteer chair organizes a book fair through Scholastic Books.

Extra volunteers are needed for set up, helping students with book selection & collecting money during the fairs.

2 Volunteer chairs organize the event & help students with the purchase of school items at the school store.

Community Sporting Events

Volunteer coordinates with the Boston Celtics, Red Sox, Bruins/ P Bruins, Revolution, etc. to schedule game days for South School Families, prints flyers to bring home to students & collects ticket money.

Holiday Store

Volunteer chair sources items for sale, sets prices and creates a flyer to send home to families.

20 Volunteers are needed for set up and helping students with purchases and collecting money. Sign up to volunteer here!

PTO Communications

Volunteers would help manage the design and content of PTO website, content and posts for PTO Facebook page, and updating the physical sign outside the building.

Special Days

Volunteer(s) would help coordinate gifts for staff on their special days (Admin Professionals Day, School Lunch Hero Day, School Nurse Appreciation Day, etc.).

Classroom representatives help disseminate information about PTO events and activities to families who may not be members but opt in to receive this information.
